The first great adventure was the creative thesis of perfection – the central universe of divine perfection (Havona)
whose inhabitants enjoyed an error free environment where an imperfect creation was yet to be known. Our age, the
age of imperfection, constitutes the antithesis of that initial supreme adventure which brought the perfection of eternity
and divinity out into the evolutionary domains of original imperfection. From order, harmony and perfect balance
came the emergence of worlds permeated with disorder, disharmony and unsettled development – the seven
superuniverses. God has confronted the Paradise-Havona system of eternal perfection with the sudden and stark
reality of an abysmal imperfection of seven new universes.
What a challenge to those inerrant beings of eternity who had never known anything but complete harmony – the
flawless pattern of perfection to be confronted with universes teaming with insincerity and evil, even to sin and
inequity.
That was the challenge long ago which confronted the citizens of the divine creation when they left their settled
domains of eternal perfection and embarked on the supreme adventure of a creative frontier of new and challenging
universes, there to take up posts as creators, organizers, and administrators of the unsettled and uncertain
evolutionary domains of time.
Our challenge then is to try to match the supernal perfection of the central creation of the first age – to perfect our
imperfect and unbalanced evolutionary world so as to match the sublime realities of those pre-evolutionary pattern
worlds brought into being to exemplify the ideal of harmonious existence.
God has dared to unite the highest form of spirit with the lowest type of creature endowed with personality – us.
Unlike the inhabitants of the central creation who are seemingly incapable of error, we on the other hand, too often
elect error as a preferred choice of action which not only thwarts our own spiritual development but inhibits the
evolutionary progress of the evolving Gods as well. God the Sevenfold is the Deity response to the challenge of
imperfection, and even these creators themselves evolve and participate in the growth process of the second age.
The pattern of growth in the second age (the evolutional age) is set by the supreme. He derives his power from the
activities and the successes of the Supreme Creators and all the inhabitants of the time – space universes. It
becomes a simple fact of existence – if the acts of these beings are evil, their growth is thwarted; if the acts are good,
their growth is augmented.
As natives of the second age we take evolutionary growth as a matter of fact. It’s all we know, but from a cosmic
perspective, evolution is peculiar only to our age. This age, the second age, marks the growth of the Supreme and
the Supreme grows by virtue of our growth – we are a part of his growth – we are growing inside of him as he
manifests throughout the grand universe.
Had our superuniverses been created perfect they would have been little more than an extension of the first age of
creation – the Central universe, but on a somewhat larger scale. The virtue if this creation is that it allows for both the
perfected personalities and the not so perfected to pursue opportunities for new growth and unlimited service in the
advancement of truth and in the perfecting of imperfect domains.
At this point in time there seems to be no end to the variety of strange ideas on this planet. The tunnel visioned and
the myopic are at interplay at the world’s largest convention. Humanity is at odds with humanity. Balance and
harmony seem out of reach for years to come, but until we are all perfected many would be pressed to find meaning.
If we picked up a newspaper today and read in the headlines, “Everything’s harmoniously in balance”, we wouldn’t
know what to do. Someday in the distant future we will know what to do – this is all part of the evolutionary plan. Let
us not fanatically rush the plan; that can only lead to war and hostility, but rather let’s assimilate the teachings of the
Urantia Book and proceed like we’re supposed to – cerebrally.
