Dear Fellow Urantians,
This is to focus us on the Midwayers’ charge to keep the text inviolate and to not start a
church.
Pure readers, loyal members of the Urantia movement subjugate ego for the long-term,
humble approach of learning more about the spiritual world and teaching others to join in
the adventure.
This serves as a reminder to all of us that we must stay on the straight and narrow. Those
whose desire is to short-circuit the spirit mandated evolutionary growth of the Urantia
movement are committing the same error as those involved in the rebellion.
Remember, the rebel Midwayers were primarily concerned with accelerating spiritual
evolution. They merely wanted to speed things up and by so doing they refused to
cooperate with the order in place, believing that the evolutional process was arduous, and
excessively prolonged. The Fellowship follows an agenda that short-circuits the intent of the
Midwayers and other spiritual entities who gave us the UB. By publishing Part IV of the UB,
which is easier to read, the context of the UB is not fully presented. The Fellowship is in
default with its zealous attempts to accelerate the process - to ostensibly sell more books
faster.
Page 215 of the Urantia Book states:
For example: The human mind would ordinarily crave to approach the cosmic philosophy
portrayed in these revelations by proceeding from the simple and the finite to the complex
and the infinite, from human origins to divine destinies. But that path does not lead to
spiritual wisdom. Such a procedure is the easiest path to a certain form of genetic
knowledge, but at best it can only reveal man's origin; it reveals little or nothing about his
divine destiny.
Even in the study of man's biologic evolution on Urantia, there are grave objections to the
exclusive historic approach to his present-day status and his current problems. The true
perspective of any reality
problem--human or divine, terrestrial or cosmic--can be had only by the full and
unprejudiced study and correlation of three phases of universe reality: origin, history, and
destiny. The proper understanding of these three experiential realities affords the basis for
a wise estimate of the current status.
When the human mind undertakes to follow the philosophic technique of starting from the
lower to approach the higher, whether in biology or theology, it is always in danger of
committing four errors of reasoning:
1. It may utterly fail to perceive the final and completed evolutionary goal of either personal
attainment or cosmic destiny.
2. It may commit the supreme philosophical blunder by oversimplifying cosmic evolutionary
(experiential) reality, thus leading to the distortion of facts, to the perversion of truth, and to
the misconception of destinies.
3. The study of causation is the perusal of history. But the knowledge of how a being
becomes does not necessarily provide an intelligent understanding of the present status
and true character of such a being.
4. History alone fails adequately to reveal future development--destiny. Finite origins are
helpful, but only divine causes reveal final effects. Eternal ends are not shown in time
beginnings. The present can be truly interpreted only in the light of the correlated past and
future.
Therefore, because of these and for still other reasons, do we employ the technique of
approaching man and his planetary problems by embarkation on the time-space journey
from the infinite, eternal, and divine Paradise Source and Center of all personality reality
and all cosmic existence.
A Focus On The Urantia Movement's Basic Tenets
KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS, THAT WHEREAS, there has been written a
manuscript of a book entitled "THE URANTlA BOOK," and there
have been produced from this manuscript approximately two thousand two hundred (2,200)
nickel-plated stereotype plates of patent base thickness for the printing and reproduction of
such book; and
WHEREAS, certain persons, hereinafter referred to as the "Contributors, being desirous
that a foundation be created for the objects herein expressed to be known as “URANTlA
FOUNDATION," have contributed certain funds to that end, and said funds have been
expended for the production of said plates for the printing and reproduction of THE
URANTIA BOOK1.
ARTICLE 11: OBJECTS
2.1. PRINCIPAL OBJECT: The object for which this Foundation is created is the promotion,
improvement, and expansion among the peoples of the world of the comprehension and
understanding of Cosmology and the relation of the planet on which we live to the Universe,
of the genesis and destiny of Man and his relation to God, and of the true teachings of
Jesus Christ; and for the inculcation and encouragement of the realization and appreciation
of the Fatherhood of God and the Brotherhood of Man--in order to increase and enhance
the comfort, happiness, and well being of Man, as an individual and as a member of society,
through the fostering of a religion, a philosophy, and a cosmology which are commensurate
with Man's intellectual and cultural development1.
2.2. CONCORDANT OBJECTS: The concordant objects for which the Foundation is created
are to perpetually preserve inviolate the text of THE URANTIA BOOK and to disseminate the
principles, teachings and doctrines of THE URANTIA BOOK. 1
ARTICLE III: DUTIES OF TRUSTEES
3.1. PRESERVATION OF TEXT OF THE URANTIA BOOK: It shall be the primary duty of the
Trustees to perpetually preserve inviolate the text of THE URANTIA BOOK, and the
Trustees shall use and employ such means, methods, and facilities and apply and expend
as much of the Trust Estate as in the judgment of the Trustees shall be necessary, proper,
or appropriate, for the preserving and the safekeeping of copies of the original text of THE
URANTIA BOOK, duly authenticated by the Trustees, from loss, damage, or destruction and
from alteration, modification, revision, or change in any manner or in any particular.
The main reason for not revealing the identity of the “Contact Personality” is that the
Celestial Revelators do not want any human being – any human name – ever to be
associated with the Urantia Book. They want this revelation to stand on its own declarations
and teachings.
They are determined that future generations shall have the Book wholly free from all mortal
connections - they do not wan a Saint Peter, Saint Paul, Luther, Calvin or Wesley. The
Book does not even bear the imprint of the printer who brought the into being.2
a. The Book cannot be printed in part or with human changed text since that would be
going against the will of God. Remember, Jesus approved the Book

a. The Midwayers could not tell us to be sure and read the Book from the beginning
since this would be abrogating God's free-will mandate. The Fellowship, by publishing only
Part IV, robs their new readers of this of this mandate from On High.
After some months waiting there came the mandate from Uversa directing the United
Midwayers of Urantia to proceed with their project pf revealing the story of the life and
teaching of Michael when incarnated on Urantia, and not only assuring them that they were
not in "contempt" of the Uversa courts, but instead granting them a mandate to do this
service and admonishing any and all persons connected therewith to refrain from interfering
with, or in any way hindering, the execution of such an undertaking. 2
a. We ,highly imperfect humans, should abide by this mandate given the spiritual entities.
The Papers were published just as we received them. The Contact Commissioners had no
editorial authority. Our job was limited to "spelling, capitalization, and punctuation”.2
Those who would attempt to speed up the dissemination of the UB by printing it in part,
thinking the Book is made more palatable to the public, are committing the same type of
crime committed by those spiritual beings now in default. The rebellion was all about
speeding up the evolutionary process of human development.
P.1918 - §1 In the next world you will be asked to give an account of the endowments and
stewardships of this world. Whether inherent talents are few or many, a just and merciful
reckoning must be faced. If endowments are used only in selfish pursuits and no thought is
bestowed upon the higher duty of obtaining increased yield of the fruits of the spirit, as they
are manifested in the ever-expanding service of men and the worship of God, such selfish
stewards must accept the consequences of their deliberate choosing.3
It was inevitable that some sort of fraternal organization would grow out to the teachings of
The Urantia Book. All interested persons could see that the Urantia teachings were
opposed to the sectarianism of Christian believers. It was clear that it was not the purpose
of the Urantia Revelation to start a new church..2
