LOOK FOR THE GOOD IN ALL THINGS

Have you ever wondered what good could possibly emerge from a situation so dire that one might shutter
just thinking of the severity of its potential results; something far worse than the atomic bomb blasts of
1945 on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, worse than the holocaust of the 1940’s worse than the surprise attack
on Pearl Harbor, the collapse of the twin towers, to name several catastrophes of the 20th century?  What
if our planetary social/economic structure were to collapse entirely; what extraction of good could arise
out of an event as drastic as the fall of the American/European empires collapsing simultaneously? A
lesson perhaps, but what kind of a lesson, of what magnitude and to whom would be the beneficiaries of
this lesson?

Being an isolated world we are cut off from the rest of the universe, we are in a social quarantine involving
a separation from spiritual contact with celestial beings and higher spiritual beings and even humans from
other worlds – a mandate that is strictly enforced. Of the millions of spiritual entities presently on the
planet we have virtually no contact apart from the subtle source of spiritual forces within the recesses of
our own minds. What would be the consequences, what possible repercussions, what synergistic effects
would rebound throughout the nearly 4 million inhabited planets of Nebadon if planet earth were to
socially implode – were to experience a material collapse of unconscionable proportions - unconscionable
because it would be our own fault - identifiable and correctable problems that we failed to address and
refused to resolve.  How would this affect the rest of the system of worlds, some of which are also in
isolation?

A sobering scenario suddenly presents itself to all inhabited worlds – the advanced as well as the less
advanced. We were told all beings in the universe became aware of an obscure planet know as Urantia
when their creator Son selected it as the place for his final bestowal. Eyes were now turned toward the
most fortunate planet of all – earth. Certainly one would expect to experience a transformation of a
grossly material world to one embracing newer and higher values as set forth only 2000 years ago by the
most spiritual and knowledgeable personality in our creation – a true son of God. Certain attempts have
been made through succeeding generations by spiritual groups to forestall the advance of materialism
unless it had some commitment to a concomitant spiritual influence to guide their efforts; however, it is
quite evident these attempts were not enough, for it seems secularism unfortunately has won out, at least
for the time being.

Spiritual values (God’s rule) were neglected and unrecognized by too many, leaving only enough values
to provide a modicum of restraint to the overwhelming majority of secularists who could only focus their
gaze on the pleasures of material advancements. Since we are living in a material age the over-
secularization of society seems reasonable to many since it yields the most engaging improvements in
material living, at least, to the advanced economies of the world – and this ironically is called affluent
success. Ethics to the secular entrepreneur impedes profit and we certainly can’t have that. Service in
time will displace the profit motive.

We have been plunging head-long into a material abyss – into the hegemony of hedonistic desire, the
likes of which the world has never seen. For a while all appeared good until the day of reckoning. And
then it was as if someone pulled the plug and the lights began going out. What good can we expect as the
good times diminish – will the lights go out completely? As mentioned above, almost four million planets
have directed their attention to their broadcast circuits to determine the outcome of a planet whose
people decided it was more profitable to over-rule their prophets by allowing emphasis to be placed on
the quickest way to obtain gratification of material desires, which just happen to run directly contrary to
the supernal teachings of their spiritual leaders and universe Creator. If a total collapse should occur,
many other worlds and trillions of  beings will soon grasp the folly of ruling out God from their domains, all
the while accepting the fact that he probably exists somewhere in the universe as a distant reality, but of
too great a distance to be of importance in our lives. Our understandings of God evolve, accelerated from
time to time, by prophets and sons of God who punctuate history with their instructions when the time is
right. Not to heed their instructions – to take them lightly opens avenues for spiritual departures – side
trips to possible oblivion for many inhabitants.

The lesson learned, therefore, is that the most fortunate of all planets in the universe, having been led
astray by its own inhabitants, by denying the leadership of their Creator, can and will experience untold
turmoil – a turmoil so drastic that the social course of this planet and others following the same path could
ultimately eventuate in ruin – financial collapse resulting in social destruction of unknown consequence.

There are recognized criminal acts and criminal acts not recognized by law yet they persist to this day. An
example is the CEO that draws a salary of one hundred million a year and lays off people who reach age
64 so that the company no longer has to pay for their pensions, and until recently considered only mildly
unethical. The ongoing expense of pensioners could be paid for life just on the salary of the CEO for one
year, yet under the guise of corporate profit and stock holder interests he would deprive an individual of a
solid pension. Until the Enron fiasco hundreds of companies filed bankruptcy leaving the employees
broke and the management teams with hundreds of millions of dollars previously acquired and deposited
in their personal accounts. The monies spent on criminality has reached insane proportions, with much of
the criminality operating without regard to the spiritual understanding of the values derived from the
recognition of the brotherhood of man; there is a Fatherhood of God, therefore you are your brothers
keeper, albeit, many could care less.

The perversities of mankind are literally destroying chances towards an everlasting peace and its social
consequences of a love for life, and prosperity for all. How could all this happen so quickly in a world of
such promise – a world picked out of millions of others on which our very creator chose to bestow himself
in order to provide living instructions for beings of every order throughout his creation? What is the good
that will emerge from the unfortunate experience of denying our spiritual sovereign’s instructions to this
world and other backward worlds? What good can be derived from denying the truth of spiritual realities?
On this world our good emerges as an insight to the realization of how wrong we have been and where
this wrong has led us. On other worlds not already settled in light and life the beneficiaries of this insight
will come to realize, that even with our personal spiritual attention rendered by a Creator Son, a planet is
not exempt from social and spiritual decay. And if a planet chooses not to pay attention to the spiritual
realities afforded that world it will eventually pay a price. If the world social order collapses it is the fault of
the selfish, avaricious, and the self absorbed among us that chose to foster and enhance their own
material and backward spiritual domains to the exclusion of the their planetary brethren, and simply put,
this is the priority of placing material values and backward spiritual edicts over the truly spiritual -
something sooner or later all planets come to recognize is a colossal mistake, which in time sets our
direction towards light and life – our ultimate goal as a planet.

The lesson learned would be: for any planet to deny the reality of God by ignoring the mandates of his
prophets even after the bestowal of his own son on a particular world, leaves that planet and all others
vulnerable to ruin especially when its inhabitants decide to take the rule into their own hands while
professing to believe in a distant God that is totally left out of the equation. We are the living example of
this, and the universe is presently watching and probably thinking, how could it happen on Urantia, a
world so fortunate?
